21 Jul Happy 6th Birthday to OpenStack!
Happy birthday OpenStack! It’s hard to believe you’re already six years old, where has the time gone?
Over the last six years, user maturity, software maturity and a focus on cloud software operations have been rapidly emerging for OpenStack, thanks in large part to the efforts of its growing community.
After reaching birthday number 6, there are plenty of things to celebrate. OpenStack has come a long way since its official launch when NASA and Rackspace first introduced us to the technology back on July 19th, 2010. There are now more than 54,000 community members, over 80 global user groups across 179 countries and more than 600 supporting companies — all contributing to the project’s success.
It’s been a lot of fun working within this community, and watching the technology mature and come of age at a time when the need for cloud technologies is really taking off!
During the entire month of July, more than 45 OpenStack birthday parties will have been thrown around the globe. And if you took part in any OpenStack birthday party, you are invited and encouraged to share those photos and memories on Twitter using the official hashtag – #OpenStack6Bday.
The team at Talligent would like to raise a glass and toast a happy birthday message to OpenStack and everyone involved in the community – past and present.
